Some
exhibits are found, not made. One sunny day many years ago,
an Exploratorium staff member noticed that the light shining
through a crack between two doors formed an image of one of
the massive columns that was just outside the doorway. The
floor beside the door was painted white to make the image
more visible and voila! The crack in the door became the CRACKS
IN A DOOR exhibit.
