Light

Diffraction

In DIFFRACTION, a small bright light is mounted behind a hole in a darkened wall. When you look at the light, it seems to have rays. This is caused by the diffracting of light in your eye. You can see this same effect by using the various props at the exhibit. A diffraction grating bends the light producing rainbows. There are also some common objects, like a piece of cloth screen and a feather, which let you see the diffraction patterns caused when light bends around edges.
