Light

Light Edge Photometer

Light of two different intensities can be compared using a measuring stick and a card with a grease spot in its center. The card can be placed at any point between the light sources. When the light falling on each side of the paper is equal, the translucent grease spot will disappear. By comparing the distances from the card to the light sources, the relative intensities of each can be determined. Extra lights can be covered or uncovered to further clarify the underlying principles of the exhibit. The effect of a smoked Plexiglass(R) filter can also be explored. We fortunately found a filter which lets through 1/4 of the light.
