Under the Rotunda at the
Palace of Fine Arts (outside the Exploratorium) the high concave
ceiling reverberates sound generated below. Visitors can observe
this phenomenon by clapping their hands, shouting, or singing a
song. An echo can be heard because of sound waves reflected from
the dome.
