MAGNETICALLY INDUCED ELECTRIC FIELDS

Whenever you change the strength of a magnetic field, you create an electric field. In a generator, this electric field pushes on the electrons in a wire and creates an electric current. The changing magnetic field can come from a moving magnet (like in a generator) or from an electromagnet with a changing current (like in a transformer). In both cases, the changing magnetic field creates a changing electric field that affects the electrons in a wire close by creating a current.
