SOUND - PRODUCTION

Sound is produced when molecules are disturbed. The disturbance moves out from the disturbing source as compression waves. Sound waves are therefore LONGITUDINAL WAVES. The molecules disturbed can be a gas (like air), a liquid (like water), or a solid (like rock).
