What's Happening at the Exploratorium?

The 40th anniversary celebration has begun! In November 2009, the amazing Dr. MegaVolt® jousted with electrical arcs. We hosted a special anniversary weekend full of only-at-the-Exploratorium events. And we took a fascinating look at the life and philosophy of our founder, Frank Oppenheimer, through a panel discussion featuring K. C. Cole, author of Something Incredibly Wonderful Happens: Frank Oppenheimer and the World He Made Up .

But the festivities aren’t over yet; we’ve got more anniversary-related events in store for you, including a Cinema Arts series that features young, local filmmakers curating films from our collection and enhancing them in new ways. We’ll also continue to offer up episodes of our Speaking of Music Rewind podcast series, which presents long-lost gems from our archives: conversations with musicians and composers, including Laurie Anderson, Brian Eno, and Philip Glass. To learn about these and other anniversary-related events, see the listings below.
