Join us! To celebrate the last total solar eclipse of millennium, the Exploratorium will open its doors from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. on the night of August 10, 1999.

Be part of the studio audience for the Eclipse Webcast, and join in the fun, which will include music, films, and live performances.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS : Tuesday, August 10th 1999

9:00 p.m. - Doors open

10:00 p.m. - Musical program and films begin (please be aware that the program is subject to change)

Films to be shown in the McBean Theater (times have not yet been assigned):
"Benjamin Bannekker: The Man Who Loved the Stars"
"Eclipse"
"Private Universe"

The musical program parallels the eclipse's path of totality (from landfall in England to India):


10:00 p.m. - England , Shira Kammen, early and traditional music.

10:30 p.m. - France , Odile Levault and the Baguette Quartette, french accordion band

11:00 p.m. - Germany/Austria , Zeitgeist 1800, classical trio


11:30 p.m. - Hungary , a trio will be playing

12:00 a.m. - Romania , Kitka, a women's vocal choir

12:30 a.m. - Turkey , Vince Delgado and Jazayer, traditional Turkish music

1:00 a.m. - Iran , (To be named later)

1:30 a.m. - India , morning ragas

2:00 a.m. - Sword swallower; Donpaul, Fire Eater: Malotov Malcontent

2:30 a.m. - Talks in the Webcast studio begin; see our Webcast Program Guide for more details

3:00 a.m. - Webcast goes live on the Internet

5:00 a.m. - Webcast ends

6:00 a.m. - Museum closes
