Frogs: Home Exploratorium

This page contains audio clips of the ambient sounds of the rain forest. The recording was made at night near Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

A variety of species of frogs can be heard in the recording. One species you should be able to hear is the coquî (from Cacique ... a Taino indian chief that was revered on the island of Puerto Rico.) The coquî has gotten its name from the "koo-ke" sound that it makes.
