Internet Access: Access to the Internet and World Wide Web can be achieved through a number of sources. CompuServe and America-On-Line, for example have Internet access. These services require any standard communication software along with a modem for your computer. In addition, Internet browsers such as Netscape Navigator, Mosaic and Netcruiser can either be downloaded or purchased. We recommend the you use a browser that supports tables like, Netscape Navigator. These programs require an Internet service provider and a PPP or SLIP account.

Searching the Internet It is easy to get lost in the Internet. Each time you enter the Internet, you may find yourself taking a different path and going to different places. This is part of the excitement, but may be part of the frustration. You may be overwhelmed by the amount of information available. The more you search, the better you will be at it.

There are a few rules to remember:
1. To start a search, use the "Net Search" feature on your browser. On Netscape it looks like this . If your browser doesn't support this feature you may want to visit the search engines listed below.
2. There a number of search engines and each one is different. A document may be in one but not in the other.
3. Read search engines "How to Search" or "Help" sections. They are written for the specific search engine and will save you time and help you find what you are looking for.
4. Keep track of important titles and addresses.

   • print articles and images
6. Stay organized:
   • Keep a research log of all interesting articles and images on your topic.
   • Keep track of home pages and the articles and images they contain.
