In conjunction with this World Wide Web project, Mr. Tsutomu Iwakura, executive director of the Japan Peace Museum in Tokyo, and the photographer's son, Mr. Shogo Yamahata, have begun an effort to effect the return of photographs, film footage, and other personal mementos taken from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and from other Pacific War sites.

As a gesture of goodwill and reconciliation, if you have items that you would like to see returned to the families of Japanese soldiers or civilians, please contact the Japan Peace Museum. The museum will try to locate the families to whom the objects rightfully belong; if that is not possiblle they will include the items in their permanent collection.

The Japan Museum is dedicated to the eradication of nuclear weapons and the threat of atomic war. Executive director Mr. Tsutomu Iwakura is the leading authority on photography and films of the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
