These
exhibits illustrate the powerful role of attention in determining
what we see - and what we don't see. The
Eye Tracker
uses state-of-the-art technology to track the movements of your
eyes as they scan an image. Although you're not aware of it,
your eyes are constantly making tiny movements, even when you're
concentrating intensely on one thing. This exhibit shows how
your eyes move from one part of a scene to another, gathering
information about each visual element. It also shows how two
people may search an image in completely different ways - which
is one reason why we all see the world differently.

Change
Blindness
confronts you with a different situation - a
normal city streetscape that seems to remain the same except
for a persistent steady blinking. But are you really paying attention
to everything going on in front of you? How much of the scene
are you actually aware of?
