Turbulent Landscapes panoramic

    This page contains QuickTime VR movies of the Exploratorium's current exhibtion, "Turbulent Landscapes." These movies present 360 degree views from different points on the museum floor.

    To properly view these movies you will need the QuickTime VR player or Plug-in. Both of these software items are available at the Apple QuickTime VR home . QuickTime VR movies can be played on both Macintosh and Windows platforms.

    This QuickTime VR movie shows the entrance to exhibit area along with an excellent view of the "Mesocyclone" exhibit. Filmed underneath the skylights in the Palace of Fine Arts in the early morning, this VR movie provides an excellent view of the space.

    This movie shows a view from a point inside the exhibition. Here you will see a number of exhibits, including "Salt Piece," "Spring Box," and "Erosion Channel."
    We are just beginning to explore the QuickTime VR Authoring Tools. We hope to add more movies to this page as this exhibition continues. If you'd like see more VR movies, check out the view from on top of the exhibition (on the roof!) A Top the Palace of Fine Arts (353K) . This movie was created in May of this year. You can see the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and other San Francisco landmarks. You may also notice a number of military barracks in the Presido. Many of these barracks have since been demolished as part of the base conversion process.
