I am a Native New Yorker who grew up in suburban New Jersey. Currently I
live and work in the bustling city and loving life in the fast lane. Since
we live in midtown, it's always lively and crowded. It constantly makes
me feel like a tourist which is fun.
I teach 6th grade Science, 9th grade Biology and 12th grade Advanced Biology
at The Spence School in the upper east side of Manhattan. We don't have
a sprawling lush campus but we are steps away from Museum Mile and Central
Park. My classroom is on the 6th floor of the building and from my classroom
window, I have a nice view of Central Park and the gardens of the Copper
Hewitt Museum (now undergoing renovations). I have been teaching at Spence
for five years.
Five years!!!
Time flies when you're having fun!
My husband John and I spend our spare time going to the NY Health and Racquet
Club, a fancy name for a gym. We also try to keep up with all the current
movies that come out. Our favorite movie theater is the Ziegfield on 54th
Street which seats more or less 1000 people! Their movie screen is HUGE
and the sound system is so powerful that the seats were shaking during the
explosions in Independence Day.
I also learned to rock climbing with my collegue Lowell Chapnick (serious
climber and leader. He's also a talented teacher). This summer, I bought
a cute mountain bike (Specialized Rock Hopper) and went with my husband
to Vermont to attack Killington Mountain. It's hard work biking up hills
and thrilling to fly down them. The scenery was fab and the experience left
me hungry for more. If you know of other great places to mountain bike,
please contact me at my e-mail address (To be linked soon!).
This homepage began taking form at the Web Science Workshop I attended in
San Fransisco.
