STUDY SHEET 1

DAY 6

I. Projectile Motion, Initially at an Angle, O 0, s oY & s fY differ

(see new Bueche xerox? P.50-54 &60 and P.63 P#45 &46 BELOW)

1. Solve for t = s x/ V xfirst, then s fY = ( V o sinO 0) t + 1/2 g t 2

2. V fY = V o sinO 0 + g t tells by sign if up or down trajectory

3. V f = ( V fY2 + V x2)1/2 and O 0= tan -1( V fY/ V x)= tan -1(?/?)= ?o

4. Find s x if s fY = ?

45. Suppose you fire a projectile 35o above horizontal with an initial velocity of 200m/s. It lands in a valley 300m below the launch point. What is the range of the projectile, and what is the projectile’s flight time?

46. A motorcycle stunt driver wishes to launch from a 35o ramp and land on a 2.0m higher flat platform that is 15m horizontally away from the launch point. How fast must the motorcycle be going as it leaves the ramp if the stunt is to succeed?
