George Washington Carver was a former slave from Missouri. He overcame the great obstacles facing him to become a famous Biochemist and Inventor. He even had a monument dedicated to him by President Roosevelt for his great scientific accomplishments.

For our project, we are going to find other scientists of color who have overcome difficulties and have made successful careers in the world of science. You should choose TWO scientists, one male and one female. Your project should include;

• a short biography (family background)
• field of science (biology? chemistry?...)
• examples of kind of work done
• how the scientist managed to succeed (obstacles overcome?)
• picture (downloaded or hand drawn)
