Circles of Magnetism I
This exhibit helps explain the phenomenon of diffraction through double slits. Instead of light, two bicycle chains hang a short distance apart (the "slit spacing"). When held together at the base of the exhibit (the "screen") the chain links will either line up (constructively interfere) or not (destructively interfere). Two sets of chains hang from the exhibit, one with large links (representing light with a long wavelength), and one with small links (short wavelength).
