Hertz Resonator
The Hertz Resonator sends out a polarized electromagnetic wave in the radio spectrum. It does this by oscillating electric charges between its two spherical electrodes. In our version the spheres are side by side and the emitted wave is therefore polarized horizontally. A simple dipole antenna with a neon lamp at its center picks up these radio waves and the lamp lights, but only when the antenna is held horizontally.
