Hot Light

At HOT LIGHT you can measure the intensity of energy of different colors coming from an incandescent lightbulb. A prism spreads out the light coming from the bulb so that you can move a photodetector through the visible colors and into the infrared. The intensity is plotted on a monitor, where you can see that the bulb gives off most of its energy as heat (infra-red), not light. A water bottle can be placed in front of the detector to absorb much of the infrared or heat energy.
