Kettledrum KETTLEDRUM consists of a vibrating speaker with a membrane stretched over its top. Visitors can adjust the frequency of the speaker and see different wave patterns move across the membrane. If the frequency is right, standing waves are formed. A strobe light can be used to "stop" the motion of the waves .
