These bacteria have strands
of magnetic crystals called magnetite inside each of their bodies.
The magnetite crystals work like tiny compass needles, pointing
the bacteria in the direction of the magnetic field. When an observer
turns the magnet, the direction of the magnetic field is changed
and the bacteria swim in the new direction.
