MOTION DETECTION demonstrates
how sensitive peripheral vision is to motion. Viewing from the center
of a large semi-circle, a visitor can adjust an object, which can
be either moving or stationary, around the edge of the semi-circle.
At a certain point, the object can no longer be seen in peripheral
vision. If the object starts moving, the observer will become aware
of it, even though it could not be seen while it was stationary.
