Resonant Pendulum

The visitor swings a small magnet onto a steel collar attached to a heavy 350 pound pendulum hung from the ceiling. Because the pendulum can only be lightly pulled with the weak magnet, the visitor learns that the pendulum can be moved only if it is pulled in time (in resonance) with its natural frequency. Two magnets are tied to the fence at 90 degrees to each other so the users, if cooperating, can make the pendulum swing in different patterns (circle, ellipse, line, etc.).
