Visitors are
invited to compare the TWO WEIGHTS by holding them in their hands.
When held close to the body the pressure on the hand from the metal
weight is greater because the metal is denser. This greater pressure
creates the expectation that the larger piece weighs less. When
the two objects are held at arms length people tend to use
the tension in their muscles to determine the relative weights,
and they may obtain a more accurate comparison.
