ACCELERATED MOTION - LINEAR

Accelerated motion occurs whenever a body changes speed or direction. When moving in a straight line, a body will gain or lose a constant amount of speed in a constant amount of time if the object is under a constant acceleration.

velocity gained (lost) = acceleration x time

Accelerations are due to forces. The magnitude of the acceleration depends directly on the force and inversely on the mass of the object under acceleration (bigger mass = smaller acceleration).

Acceleration = Force/Mass
