BOUNCING

When a ball hits a hard surface,

it deforms due to its inertia as

the floor brings it to a rest. If

the ball is made out of an elastic

material (rubber, glass, steel,

etc.), it will try to regain its

original shape. In doing so, it

will throw itself back into

the air a certain percentage

of the original height from which it was dropped.
