ELECTRIC SHOCK

When electric charge passes through your body you may experience an electric shock. The effect depends on the current (number of electrons per second) and where the current flows. The current is directly proportional to the voltage and inversely proportional to your resistance. If your hands are wet (low resistance) a large current can flow. If you touch a high voltage a large current will flow.

If the current flow through your heart, it may overwhelm the small currents from your nerves and cause your heart to stop or beat incorrectly. If the current travels down your arm it may lock your muscles into position and you won't be able to let go of the wire. Through your legs, and your muscles may "throw you" across the room!
