For the third year in a row, the Exploratorium is infiltrating the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science to be held February 16-19, 2001. Except this time the meeting is in our home town of San Francisco, so we're planning bigger and better coverage including daily multimedia dispatches and live webcasts from the AAAS exposition hall.

This is the 167th meeting of AAAS and over 5000 scientists, engineers, educators, policymakers, students and journalists will converge to attend this mother of all interdisciplinary science meetings. More than 750 speakers will participate in 140 multidisciplinary session featuring the latest research on the science of "new generation" telescopes, quantum devices, genetically modified foods, nutraceuticals, the biosphere, gene therapy, obesity, addiction and the brain, and other topics.

An Exploratorium team of writers, videographers, web developers and producers will be roaming the hallways, meeting rooms, and special events at AAAS. We'll be bringing you full website coverage of as much science and meeting culture as we can take including:

The Exploratorium is setting up a webcast studio inside the exhibition hall with selected exhibits from the museum floor. We'll be challenging scientists to explain the science behind puzzling phenomena during live webcasts every day.
