THE DNA FILES Comparing DNA Workshop
THE DNA FILES Comparing DNA Workshop is an introduction to DNA and evolution. Participants will build a DNA model, extract and examine DNA from wheat germ cells, and explore how DNA encodes information for building complete organisms. Building on these activities, participants will then investigate what they can learn about themselves by comparing human DNA to that of other creatures.
The workshop is roughly 1.5 hours long, can accommodate 20–30 participants, and is suitable for 5th–7th graders or family groups working together.
