In order to help visitors physically experience the Palace of Fine Arts' height and architectural singularities, Erica Gangsei crocheted enormous swatches of lace netting around the rafters above the Exploratorium Store. In keeping with her interest in object identity, the lace evolved from one continuous piece of string; though changed into lace, its original identity as a single string remains intact.
