TexNET
brings excellent informal science education in the form
of quality exhibits and teacher training to diverse
audiences in wide-ranging markets throughout the Lone
Star state, including the Spanish-speaking colonias
and dispersed rural communities that rely on the services
of our museum partners.
For
the initial run of TexNET, the
National Science
Foundation
(Informal Science Education program)
has provided major funding, and the founding partners
have also contributed significantly in terms of time
and money.
We
are always interested in bringing new interested sponsors
onboard to support our broad impact in rural areas of
the state. All exhibit-based teaching emphasizes links
to the Texas state standards, TEKS, to ensure direct
transfer of hands-on learning from the museum to the
school classroom. All activities of the grant are rigorously
researched, with the resulting evaluation focusing on
strategic impact of the project for both professional
science educators as well as the public our partners
serve.
