getting ready

The Exploratorium encourages museums to work with artists and craftsmen in their communities to develop exhibits or progams which highlight the "forces that shape our world" right here at home.

It has been our experience that the public responds to nothing more favorably than activities that are demonstrated within the exhibition. Programmed activities add to the overall hum of the experience and allow visitors yet another way into the content of the show. You might also consider commissioning an artist to develop a program rather than an exhibit for your show. We commissioned two activities from artists. One had to do with an ink pigment that was floated on water by artist Marie Lansac, and the other is the print making activity by Irene Chan. For details of the print activity and others, see the activities area of this site.
