Ammeter/Coil

Wire/Magnet/Coil

Magnetic Elevator-As a project a student wound 100+ wraps of wire around the base of a 10ml graduated cylinder. Inside the cylinder was placed a magnet from the magnetic stirrer. Connect the wire to a battery. Reverse the poles.

2 Coils & Magnets- Magnetic Pendulums, Snackbook

Magnetic Swing-A freely swinging wire hangs between the poles of a horseshoe magnet. Hook the wire to a battery; switch the poles of the magnet.

Hand Generator-(Genecon) Let the students feel the difference in cranking the wire with a bulb attached as opposed to with no bulb. Once they have used the Genecon to light the bulb, have them atteach it to a battery. Again, flip the poles.

Electromagnet-Wrap a wire around a nail, connect each end to a battery. Pick up paper clips. Place the end of the nail near a compass. Flip the battery over, bring the nail near the compass. Use an aluminum nail if available.
