Waves & Resonance

Organ Pipe

A speaker plays a pure tone, which is variable in frequency, over a tube which is variable in length. As the tube is telescoped to different lengths, the tone becomes much louder at very specific places. These are the resonance points of the tube for that tone. If the tone has a higher frequency, the resonant points are closer together. The wavelength of the tones are easily measured.
