SOUND - AUDIBLE

A vibration of your eardrum is responsible for the thing we call sound. For a human, the ear can only detect sounds that vibrate between 20 and 20,000 times per second. Vibration rates within these limits are audible. Slower vibrating (infrasonic) or faster vibrating (ultrasonic) can not be heard. Animals have various other ranges.
