BALANCE - CENTER OF GRAVITY

An object will balance when its center of gravity (the place where all of its mass, on the average, resides) is over the point od support. The larger the base, the more stable the object is.

To see a video of a see-saw in action, press the button below. The seesaw is made to tilt one way or the other by changing the center of mass. This can be done by leaning or adding other masses (people).
