I was 2 years old. I remember going to the hospital to have corrective eye surgery. I was riding on my fathers's shoulders. The hospital lobby had very tall round pillars that had blue/green carpeting half way up them. The next memory I have of my surgery is sitting in a hospital bedin a very bright white room, watching Sesame Street and eating a sundae. There was a funny canope on my bed. My brother was outside the room looking through a window in the door, waving. There was a pill in the sundae and my mom told me to go ahead and eat it. After I finished the sundae, I was very tired. I haven't told the story very many times. I think it is pretty accurate.

I remember the first house I lived in. We movedbefore I was four years old. I especially can recall the living room, when we got our first t.v. set with a six inch screen, it was 1948 or '49. I have verified the house lay out, my bedroom arrangement, and livingroom arrangement and colors with my parents. They have verified that the description is accurate. During this time, I can also remember riding in my brother's bicycle basket, and listening to the Minnesota Laker's basketball games on the radio.

I couldn't have been more than three years old at the time... My mom had me seated in the back of a shopping cart at T.J. Maxx whilst she went into the dressing room to try something on. Before long, I got bored. I saw a pretty, soft-looking dress hanging on a rack nearby and reached out to feel the material, and over toppled the entire cart! I banged my knee but was fine. I righted the cart and found that I couldn't climb back in. My mom was surprised when she came out and I was beside the cart rather than in it! I have never told the memory, but for some reason it's always stuck in my mind as being my earliest vivid memory, and I'm positive that it is accurate

Later, I remember him telling other fireman that I had actually seen the plane crash. I was eigth or nine years old at the time.

It was before I could walk, just before I was one year old. I was crawling on the floor and my dad came home bringing our pet poodle with him, and the poodle came up and licked my face. I have told many people over the years that this was my first memory. I have never been given any reason to doubt that this truly is my first memory and that it did happen. I told my parents and they just thought that it was amazing that I could remeber something from so young an age.
Gary S. Katz
I was less than a year old, sitting on the floor in only a diaper while someone ironed clothes. It was not at my house because there was something there that I didn't recognize. I babbled something and I still remember my astonishment when the woman knew what I wanted and said, "That's an icebox." I was so delighted to be understood. Because of that I have nearly always talked to infants and young children as though they could understand, and they are fascinated. When I was about 21 I was drifting off to sleep and I felt cozy and protected. All of a sudden I was jarred awake by a piercing scream. I realized it was a birth memory. I had been turned sideways in the womb and the doctor had given my mother an injection in her spine so he could reach in and turn me. At the moment of the injection she also had a contraction and screamed. I felt terror, pressure and extreme discomfort, then nothing. I didn't know the details about the shot but my mom confirms the rest.

I remember sitting in my stroller while my sisters pushed me around the neighborhood. On the stroller there was a white tray with some little lettered beads that I could slide back and forth on a metal bar. The beads were white with black letters. (I'm not sure which letters.) We went down Dennis Drive and turned right onto Golf Road, streets near Reading, Pennsylvania. We passed a mansion, turned around, and went to Ciotti's supermarket where I felt the chill of air conditioning. ---- I also remember lying on my back on my parent's bed and peeing in my sister's face while she changed my diaper. Not a tough one. I vividly recall being walked in my stroller; by my mother. Probably about 9 or 10 months old, at that time. The year was 1946. It was Fall season. We lived in Philadelphia Pa.. I was being walked west on South St., between 4 & 500 block. We were on the south side of the street. It started to drizzle. My mom pushed the top of the stroller to cover me. I started to cry, and tried to push it back but couldn't quite reach it. I tried real hard and finally reached up and flipped the cover back. Thanks 4 hearing my memory, though a very old one, it's very intact!

Hearing "Babe, I Love You" by Styx in the car on the way home from going to the supermarket with my mother. The oldest I could have been was three years old because we moved from the town afterwards. I get a warm, cheesy feeling before the memory -- this aside from what the average Styx song induces.

My great-grandmother holding me in her arms. We were on her front porch and I stared at her collection of flowering cacti. I remember wondering why she had little trees on the railing. I recently told my mother about what I remembered... she was shocked and told me that I was 6 months old when that happened. Then she showed me the picture which she'd kept hidden away - great-grandma Daisy holding me on her front porch. I'd never seen it before.

10 Months Old: I remember being set by my mother at the edge of a large lake in the shallow part, with large waves lapping at me; I was terrified because it felt like they would pull me into the lake. I screamed until she moved me just to the edge. I remember thinking that they didn't understand why I wanted out of the water, and not being able to tell them. I remember knowing that my Grandma was there. My mother confirms it was a visit to Grandma's in AR at Bull SHoals Lake. I've always had a slight fear of water. Around 1 yr: Climbing the stairs one step at a time, peering through the wrought iron banister while Mom and my siblings brought in groceries, coming to the realization that THIS was now "home". I was 11 months old when we moved to our "new" house. 1yr, 10 mos: Dad building my new swingset, yelling at me to quit messing with things, as I just spilled a bunch of screws (I was trying to help him). My feelings were very hurt (Dad never yelled at me!) It was bought for me for my 2nd birthday, but put up 2 months early, in May.

I remember trying to crawl over our dog to get past him and down the basement stairs when I was 1 1/2 years old. He wouldn't let me pass. My mom was down there doing laundry and confirms the memory is accurate. I've told some people, usually when they try to tell me that dogs shouldn't be around young children.

Age 2. Summer. Sitting on the shoulders of a very tall man, being able to reach and grabbing the big green maple leaves on the trees above. This is acurate. My mother verified this particular event and my age. He was 6'6"!I was overwhelmed by being so high up.

Age: about 3. Getting a bath in the kitchen sink and thinking, I'm too big for this sink. Age: about 4. Summertime. Putting several snails on my outstretched bare arms and experiencing their cold slippery trails on my warm skin. Seemed like a neat idea. Then, seeing my mom at the top of the stairs freak out and yell at me. Probably got another bath. Hava laughed about the snails with my mom. Yep, these are accurate memories.
