glowing genes from one organism into another isn't new. It's
often used in genetic research, to make the "promotor" of the
studied gene glow when turned on. For example, if you want to
know what makes an organism "turn on" the gene for storing fat
instead of burning it, make that gene glow, and watch the lights
go on.
