Come Rain, Come Shine

Activity THREE

You can use the Internet to find out whether it's day or night right now anywhere on the planet...you can even find out the exact time there.

STEP 1

First you can check a "Geochron" to see which parts of earth are in the daylight (facing the sun) or in the dark (away from the sun.) Click on this URL address to see a chart that shows you: Fourmilab Geochron Chart (That's not the actual URL address-- it's too long to write out here.) (Be careful to use the "Back" button to get back here when you're done!)

STEP 2

You can also find out the exact time of day (or night) for most major cities across the globe. The site I'll link you to lists times by the "24-hour" clock system. In this system 1:00 PM is listed as 13:00 and 2:00 PM is listed as 14:00, etc. (Scroll to the bottom of the site's page to learn what the + and * signs mean on the chart.) Here's the site: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ (And then come back here again, using that "Back" button!)

STEP 3

Well now you know how to find the weather forecast and the actual time for most places on Earth. You've learned a lot! Now go to ACTIVITY FOUR
