Trace by Ali Sant and programmed by Ryan Shaw examines the layering of physical space with the on and off zones of the wireless or hertzian network. Borrowing from the conventions of cartography, Trace produces a series of maps on a WiFi-enabled PDA. Each map corresponds to a different state of a transforming network-locations within and outside of range, locked and unlocked zones, default and unique named networks. Users become investigators exploring and enabling state changes in the network zones.
