I was around 3 or so b/c we just moved to a new house. I remember walking through the gate from our barn to the backyard with my mom, dad and my brother. It was a beautiful summer day, I was wearing a blue dress. This memory I have told to dozens of people including my parents and they seem to agree with me since we would go through that gate often coming from the pond or the barn.

I remember my Nana and I throwing rocks into an irrigation ditch in Oklahoma City. I was probably two or three years old. I'm not certain how accurate the memory itself is or if it is my earliest memory. CARR BIEKER
My youngest recollections of events are hazed and obsolete of the key senses that act as building blocks in my adult memory today, such as the way in which something smells, feels, tastes, sounds and appears. Only a couple of my senses reacted and took note of the day in which might be my earliest memory. I believe I was approximately three years young. I was in a oblong shaped pool, wearing a whole peice suit, hot pink in color with a trim of white ruffle around the leg holes and across the bodice. There were many other children and mothers around. I don't recall faces, shapes, or names....just colors and my inner thoughts. My eyes documented the deep aqua hue of the pool, my irradescent bathing suit, the very pale almost colorless sky and grassless land by which stood two tall palm trees. I felt cold, and icky, it was the beginning of fall...I wanted to get out and dry off.--I believe it was some form of swiming class. The unmentionable detail that I carry with me to this day is that I was adopted when I was eight months old. I was enrolled in this swim class around the age of three years- from what my adopted mother told me. Upon meeting my natural mother only two years ago, some 20 years after this memory was thought to have taken place, I had found that she carried with her a picture- one of only a couple of me- with herself and my grandmother in a pool with many others around. It was not until I saw this picture that a question rose in my head as to whether or not the memeory that I thought was created in my third year of life, with my adopted mother, could have possibly been created at the very early age of eight months, with a mother that I knew for only a brief amount of time. I have never asked either of my mothers about confirming the details, although they are both very much alive. I fear that my mind might be playing a false memory trick on me. Although my memory feels very valid, I understand the tendancy for people to view a picture and inherently enter it into their memory bank as their own photographic construction of past events. I therefore do not know if I am remembering my toddler swim class or the picture of myself at eight months old in a similar shaped pool with my natural mother and grandmother. I suppose I will never know, although it does not do much in the way of haunt me.
D. Jarrels
A stuffed toy monkey and a straw farmer's hat were my favorite things and they were with me from the earliest times. I haven't had them since about age three. So they are my earliest memories. I think that memories beyond that exist only as feelings inexplicable by anyone who has them. If the brisk beginnings of autumn weather make you want to cuddle in close to another person, could this be because your mother at some point in your babyhood bundled you to her own bosom when the lazy days of summer were push aside by fall's gray.

My mother sat me on something (a chest)and left me sitting there alone. I was afraid I'd fall backward and hit my head on the floor. I felt wobbly. Mama stood near a man and they were talking and looking at me. I didn't know what was going on. The man put his head under something black. He had something in his hand that made a noise. The picture that I have of this says I was 10 months old. I didn't have much hair yet. The man was a photographer. I didn't remember this until looking at the picture recently. I am 51. Have only told about the memory a few times now since I just remembered it this summer. I know it is accurate because I remember feeling wobbly and afraid of falling. When I asked my mother about it, she confirmed that it was one of those old fashioned cameras where he put his head under a black cover. I even remember him changing the slides on the camera although I had no idea what he was doing at the time, nor that I was having a picture taken. I haven't had a picture taken with a camera like that since.

The memory ends there.
