I remember following Dad and Grandpa around Grandpa's farm in Wiscounsin when I was about 3.5. I couldn't step over the fences like they could so I had a hard time keeping up. I got distracted by some chickens, who suddenly rushed at me in a mob. I panicked and ran right into some barbed wire. My next memory is seeing a doctor hold up a huge needle to give me a shot after I got stitches for my injuries. I have told this story many times and am fairly sure about the accuracy.

I remember playing house and plugged in the vacuum cleaner, which in reality turned out to be a metal bobby pin. I remember sitting on my mother's lap and crying because my hand hurt. The room I was playing in was quite bare. When I talked to my mother about this, she confirmed that we were in the process of moving and the room was almost empty. I remember sitting on our kithen doorstep, whilst my Auntie and my Mom unwrapped our belongings and put them into a cupboard in the corner of the kitchen. I know now of course that this must have been when we first moved house. I was no older than two. My second memory is of my Mom opening the curtains whilst I lay on the settee. She was telling me that my Dad was taking my sister to school. I must have been about 3 years old.

I remember Mom being pregnant with Karen. I was 18 months old. I learned how to fold diapers and test bottles on my wrist. I was two and 1/2, in the fall of '66, my sister was in my dad's arms (which was where I wanted to be, I still remember the jealousy.) We were walking through our yet-to be completed house and the date on the threshold of the laundry room read August 16, 1966, my sister's birthdate. I was three when I stepped on a board with a nail in it. I still remember the looks on my brothers' faces when they saw me limping across the yard with this board and nail stuck on my foot! I don't remember pain. I remember Dad getting me up in the night and taking me onto the lawn to watch the Leonids meteor shower. It was so beautiful, like a curtain of light. I was four. I remember a total eclipse and the first moonwalk, when my parents stayed home with me to watch.

About two months before my second birthday, my father and I went to our new house (before we moved in) to 'supervise' the new electric appliances installation. my earliest memory is of being in an older woman's arms standing in the drive way in front of the house where I lived when I was born. This had to be a fair amount before age 2 since I hadn't yet moved to the house that I had my second birthday at. My first dream memory was seeing white all night and it being peaceful (my favourite kind of dream, called "white nights" when I learned to talk but haven't talked much about them) Other memories were smells (house and woods smells) and crawling through tall grass, looking up at green that turned out to be redwood trees. Also sounds, like the gonging clock that I still remember and my parents say I remembered it even when I had just been born, because the clock was around when my mom was pregnant. Staring over the neighbour's fence while my mother called "Harriet!" and only seeing cats (we were going to invite her over to pizza, but she wasn't there). I've told that last one a whole lot of times because it's my first narrative memory. The others I have talked about but not nearly as much. I remember misunderstanding words people said and stringing the sounds together. I often remember very early things as if I was behind or to the side of myself - not things that have been photographed. Any memory I bring up to my parents they verify as real. I said so many things because I don't know which came first -- within almost any year, I can remember a lot of things but not in order.

A very early memory that I'm not sure is accurate occured in New York City in the late 70s. There was a display of black and white pictures of the victims of the atom bombs in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. My first memory was if me standing in front of the TV and putting my hand on the screen. I liked the way the static felt. Suddenly, my dad hollered from the couch, "Don't do that." At that time, I guess I didn't much care for people telling me what to do. ( I was spoiled). I gave him a good hard stare in the eyes as I placed my hand on the screen once more. He jumped up off the couch, come over to me, and whipped me. It didn't hurt. I was so surprised at his actions, though, that I began to cry. This was my first whipping. I WAS ONE AND A HALF. I HAVNT TOLD THE MEMORY TO ANY ONE. AND I BELIEVE IT TO BE ACCURATE. I REMEMBER THE DIRT'S COLOR AGAINST THE YELLOW SNAKE AND HOW DARK IT WAS THAT NIGHT. AND THE TREES AROUND US VIVIDLY. I REMEBER THE PERSONS FACE WHO CARRIED THE INSTUMENT AND HIS HAT. WHEN I CHECKED WITH MY MOM, EVERY THING ABOUT THE SNAKE HAD HAPPENED AND IT WAS NOT A NIGHTMARE ANY MORE. EVEN THE NANNY WAS REAL (REAL FAT WITH SOFT WRINKLED SKIN). SHE IS STILL A NIGHTMARE. IT HAD HAPPENED TO ME AND I MADE A NIGHTMARE OUT OF IT. I WAS IN 6TH OR 7TH GRADE WHEN THE IMMAGINATION BECAME A REALIZATION OF THE HAUNTED PAST.

my earliest memory was visitting my great grandma in the hospital. she was in bed and she had a food tray table thing next to her bed with a small blue cup and a bendy straw. I had to be about a 1&1/2 I know this was accurate because she died shotly after that. I also have memories of that. Yes I have talked about this growing up in just general conversation.

My earliest memory is going to have a rest in my parents room and cutting my hair so I had a huge bald spot in the middle of my head, and I smeared my dolls with my mom's fancy lipstick. Either that or vomiting all over a stranger on the plane after eating a huge chocolate lollipop.

I was five years old and it was my first day of kindergarden. We were all sitting around the room in a square. I was leaning against the wall and behind me was a picture of a brown bear. Two little boys sitting next to me were laughing because the bear I was leaning on was an ugly color and they were leaning against a pretty color bear.

I remember walking to school when I lived in South Africa, and having lunch outside, playing with my friends, the sleep overs at the neighbors house, and having to go to town on the weekends, going to Sun City, and enjoying life, eating ice-cream, and riding the bus, waking up early, broken fences, high walls, homelessness everywhere, but lots of happiness..those are my most memorable memories of living in South Africa :)

i was about a year old and my mother had to help our neighbors with their son who had choked on a peice of butterscotch. I told my mom about the memory and everything was correct to the smallest detail, except for the longest time I thought it was myself choking on the candy and not my neighbor.

My first memory is of myself sitting under a piece of raised furniture. My mother comes in, sees me sitting there, and says "Leah! How did you get there?" When I described the room to my mother she knew it was our house in Miami, which we moved out of when I was less than a year old.

I crushed my thumb in the screen door chasing my brother out of the house. Age: 2 1/2 yrs. told the memory many times and it was extremely vivid when I was younger but is now more of a remembrance of the telling. I was only slightly verbal at the time and didn't mention it to any one until I was older but my Mother confirmed it including the description of my brother's haircut.

I had just turned three. I was on a train bound for New Brunswick with my mother, older brother, and newborn sister. In the sleeping compartment, I remember how the top berth pulled out from the wall like a clam shell. I was carried to breakfast by the porter. My brother and I played with two children our age over the back of the seat in the day car. I remember almost every detail of that two week trip.
